• 7 Money Making Wellness Hacks to Ensure You Don't Regret Pouring Into Your Well-being

    I want to share seven ways wellness can actually make you money. This topic is super-important to me because when people reach out to me about services and consultations, and the first thing they ask is “how much do you charge.”

     

    My rates are posted on my website so it’s not like they’re a secret, but I usually want someone to chat with me first and feel my vibe and before they hear a number, and take off running because it sounds too expensive.

     

    It’s the same thing when I talk to current clients and ask them how they take care of their wellness outside of therapy. There’s a lot of . . . “well it costs too much” and “I already spent on Y, so I can’t do Z.” It is just excuse, after excuse, after excuse. I want to just shut that down.

     

    As an aside, before I jump into these seven ways, I do want to say that if you’re someone who has issues meeting basic needs (like rent and keeping food on the table), then this is not meant for you. You want to really take care of those issues first and foremost. But if that’s not a problem and all your basic needs are met, then I want to talk about ways to take care of your wellbeing that can actually make you money since we all wanna be where the money is at in 2021.

    7 Money Making Wellness Hacks – Podcast Breakdown

    [1:09] Today I’m going to talk to you about something everyone is interested in – Money. I want to share 7 ways wellness can make you more money. This topic is super important to me because when people reach out to me about therapy and coaching and they always ask me how much I charge. My rates are posted on my website, so it’s not a secret. But I also always want people to get to know me and the changes that are going to happen in our work together before they hear a number. I also ask my current clients what they’re doing outside of our work together for their wellness and they say “well it costs too much” or “I already spent money on this, so I can’t do that.” I find that these are usually excuses, and I want to shut that down today. Something I want to say before we get started is that if you’re struggling to make ends meet, this may not be the episode for you, because you’ll need to take care of those issues first and foremost. But, if all your basic needs are met I want to talk to you about ways to take care of your wellbeing to make more money.

    [3:43] Number 1 – If you have a wellness routine, it can help you connect with other people. How does connecting with others make you more money? Think networking. If you’re someone who struggles with social anxiety and avoids talking to people, or you’re someone who gets overwhelmingly lonely where you almost can’t take care of your needs day today because you’re so lonely, taking care of yourself will help you connect to people that can advance your career or your business and get you out of that loneliness cycle. 

    [5:15] Number 2 – If you take care of your wellness, you get to the root of your money mindset. Meaning, if you start a practice of meditating or journaling on certain topics, it can help you understand how you think about money. What do you do when you have money? What do you do when you don’t have a lot of money? Focusing on your financial wellness is creating a more positive relationship with money which will help manifest more money coming your way.

    [6:07] Number 3 – You lose less money to addictive behaviors and impulsivity. Your only fans subscriptions, your alcohol, your weed, your amazon orders, your uber eats, just to name a few. When you’re working on these wellness behaviors and you’re working on cutting back, it lowers your impulse buying, saving you money!

    [6:45] Number 4 – You waste less time. Spending hours scrolling on social media or zoned out in front of the tv when you have the best intentions to get stuff done today. Maybe want to organize your finances, or create a budget today and you just procrastinate until bedtime. Now it turns into you not being able to sleep, and it’s a vicious cycle. If you waste less time, you get more things done and you make more money.

    [ 7:27] Number 5 – You can learn to set boundaries when you are pouring into your wellness. Working on this stuff could help you create extra time to take on an extra client, or work on that side hustle you have. But at the moment you spend so much time taking care of other’s needs and there’s no more time in the day. When you start pouring into your wellness and self-care routines you’ll start to see the value. You really can’t skip working out this week, or going to work this week or skip going to your therapy session. Not setting boundaries can prevent you from accomplishing what you need to accomplish for yourself. So set those boundaries!

    [8:42] Number 6 – More self-confidence. Obviously, I think self-confidence is improved when taking care of your wellness, but it can be surprising how much it can help with your financial wellness. think about it like this, are you the person who doesn’t apply for the job, the grant, or the promotion because you don’t believe you’re good enough, different enough, worthy enough, or a combination of all these. Once you start treating yourself well, it’s going to teach you how much value you have and how to value yourself. Then, as your self-confidence grows you can ask for a raise, or raise your rates, and boom, your coin is increasing. 

    [9:40] Number 7 – Your mind will be clearer. A foggy head usually means you’re not doing well at work, or not excelling in areas you want to be excelling in. If you’re too brain dead after work, then you can’t plot your world takeover, or your future, or your side hustle. When your head is clear, you can get all those things done. With your head clear you can be more productive without feeling drained. This is what having a wellness routine can do for you, it can fill you up until your cup is overflowing. That’s all 7 of the ways you can make money by taking care of your wellbeing. If you want to make more money and save more money, taking care of your wellness has to be a part of that.

You lose less money to addictive behaviors and impulsivity. 4. You waste way less time giving you more time in your day to do things that will make you more money. 5. You learn to set boundaries with others in your life so you have more time for yourself and to secure the bag. 6. You gain more self-confidence and the more self-confidence you have the more likely you are to shoot your shot. 7. Your mind is clear leaving space for all your hopes and dreams. All of these are benefits of taking an active part in your self-care.     Every single one of these may not apply to you, so just keep that in mind and take what resonates with you and use that to propel you towards change. It’s fine if not all of them are your jam. Number one is if you have a wellness routine, it can help you connect with others more easily. If you’re a person who avoids special events and networking due to social anxiety (me, I, myself), or you get so overwhelmingly lonely that you can’t function, then taking care of yourself will help you be able to connect with people that can advance your career or your business.

    Number two you get to the root of your money mindset. Meaning if you’re journaling or you’re meditating on certain topics, it’ll help you understand how are you thinking about money. What do you do with you when you have it? How do you spend it? How do you save it? Do you save it or spend it? Focusing on your financial wellbeing is creating a more positive relationship with money, which will bring more money your way.

    Number three is that you lose less money to addictive behaviors and impulsivity. Hello, only-fans subscriptions – one or two fine obviously cool – but eight subscriptions? Not necessary. Alcohol, weed, Ubeats, Amazon. Just to name a few. But when you’re working on these behaviors, it helps you with your impulse buying.

    Number four, you waste less time.  Spending hours zoned out scrolling or in front of the TV when you have the best intentions to get shit done. Maybe you want to organize your finances, or you were going to create a budget. And you just procrastinate and procrastinate, all the way until bedtime. Then it turns into, you can’t sleep because you were thinking about all the things that you were supposed to do. It’s a vicious cycle. If you waste less time, therefore get more shit done.

    Number five, you can learn to set boundaries. Working on this stuff helps you set boundaries. You could take on an extra client, or you could spend extra time on that side hustle that you have, but at the moment you’re spending so much time doing things for other people or taking care of someone else’s needs until there’s no time left. Set boundaries. You learn about that whenever you do start taking care of your wellness and participate in self-care routines.

    Number six: More self-confidence. Are you the person that doesn’t apply for the job or the promotion or for the business grant because you don’t believe that you’re good enough, different enough, or worthy enough? If you’re that person, then treating yourself well will teach you how to value yourself and then you can go out for that promotion, you can ask for jobs, you could reach these higher aspirations.

    Number seven is your mind will be clearer. A foggy head usually means you’re not doing well at work, you’re not excelling, you’re not getting things done as well. Or it means that your too braindead after work, in the evenings, to plot your world take over, or your future plans, or work at your side hustle. If your head is clear you get all things done, or you get maximum productivity done, and then you’re not feeling so drained.

     

    That was all seven of them, and if you want to be where the money resides in 2021, then your self-care is a part of that. You’re just not gonna get as far without it, sorry-not-sorry to burst your bubble.
